1、 Overview
In 2023, the overall supply and demand of fluorinated polymers in China maintained a growth trend. The total production capacity of the four major fluorinated polymers was about 507000 tons/year, with a production of about 323000 tons, an increase of 19.6% and 12.7% year-on-year, respectively. The industry average operating rate was about 63.7%. Among them, PTFE production capacity is 223000 tons/year, with a production capacity of about 154000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.0%, and a year-on-year decrease of 1.6% in production; The PVDF production capacity is 197000 tons/year, with a production of approximately 110000 tons, an increase of 44.9% and 49.5% year-on-year, respectively; FEP production capacity is 58000 tons/year, with a production of approximately 35000 tons, an increase of 14.7% and 6.8% year-on-year, respectively; FKM has a production capacity of 28000 tons per year, with a production of approximately 24300 tons. The production capacity remains unchanged, with a year-on-year increase of 2.7%.

In 2023, there were 25 major fluoropolymer production enterprises in China, including Dongyue Group, Juhua Group, Zhonghao Chenguang, San'aifu, Yonghe Group, etc., with a total production capacity of approximately 506900 tons per ye

In terms of production capacity, Dongyue Group has the largest production capacity (over 100000 tons/year), followed by Juhua Group with a total production capacity of about 45000 tons/year. San'aifu and Zhonghao Chenguang are closely behind, with production capacities of 39800 tons/year and 34000 tons/year respectively, while other manufacturers have production capacities less than 30000 tons/year.
2、 Capacity analysis
1. Analysis of production capacity scale
In 2023, among the 25 fluoropolymer manufacturers surveyed, the single production capacity was mainly concentrated below 30000 tons, with only 4 enterprises having a production capacity of 30000 tons or more, accounting for 16%.
Among them, Dongyue Group has the largest production capacity, with a total production capacity of about 105600 tons/year, accounting for approximately 21% of the total production capacity in the country; Next is Juhua Group, with a total production capacity of about 44500 tons/year, accounting for 9% of the total production capacity in the country. The third ranked company is San'aifu, with a total production capacity of about 39800 tons/year, accounting for about 8%.
The concentration of the four major fluoropolymer industries is relatively high, with a CR4 (the top four industry share concentration index) of 44.2%, a decrease of 6.4 percentage points compared to last year's 50.6%.

2. Regional distribution of production capacity
From the perspective of regional distribution, 80% of China's fluoropolymer production capacity in 2023 is distributed in the East China region, mainly including provinces such as Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Jiangxi; 7% are distributed in the southwest region, mainly in Sichuan and Chongqing; 3% are distributed in North China, mainly in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; In 2023, there will be new production capacity in Central China and Northwest China, accounting for 3% and 4% respectively.

4、 Analysis of proposed ongoing projects
In recent years, the new energy industry (lithium batteries, solar energy, wind energy, hydrogen fuel cells, nuclear energy, etc.), electronic information industry, medical and health, aviation and aerospace, national defense and military industry, rail transit, and other fields have developed rapidly. The demand for fluorinated polymers is very strong, especially in 2021, the prices of multiple fluorinated polymers have skyrocketed, and product supply is in short supply. Fluorine chemical enterprises have performed well overall, with high investment enthusiasm and intensive production expansion plans.
Entering 2023, a significant amount of new production capacity has been realized, and the supply-demand relationship is gradually easing. Some product profits have significantly declined, and it is expected that some existing project construction will be delayed or even stalled.
